Vietnamese TikTok influencer fined $309.2 for using inappropriate Thai images in video shot in Cambodia

Hua Quoc Anh, a Vietnamese TikTok influencer, was fined VND7.5 million (US$309.2) for inserting the images of the Thai flag and Thai kings into a video shot at Cambodia’s Angkor Wat temple complex. The video quickly went viral, sparking a backlash among Vietnamese and Cambodian people and forcing the two Vietnamese agencies to launch an investigation. A video shot in Cambodia which included images of Thai kings and the Thai flag caused a public backlash. The Angkor Wat World Heritage Conservation Authority (Apsara) announced on its website on November 12 last year that the video defamed Cambodia’s culture and heritage. The Angkor Wat complex was listed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1992.
