December 30, 2023

Vietnamese agencies collaborated with Myanmar authorities to bring nearly 400 more Vietnamese citizens back home by road from armed conflict zones in northern Myanmar on early Saturday morning, according to Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. With these newly repatriated people, the total number of Vietnamese nationals brought home from Myanmar has reached nearly 1,400 since early December, the ministry said. During the previous repatriations of Vietnamese from Myanmar, Vietnam’s agencies also helped move a number of citizens of Egypt, Malaysia and Singapore from Myanmar to safe places. Such understanding is crucial to help Vietnamese citizens avoid falling into the traps of human trafficking networks or becoming illegal residents in foreign countries, the agency added. In case of emergency, Vietnamese citizens in Myanmar can contact the citizen protection hotlines at +95 9660888998 for the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar or at +84 981848484 or +84 965411118 for the Foreign Ministry’s Consular Department.
