Frenchman fined $209 for insulting security guard in Ho Chi Minh City

Police in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday fined Jean-Marcel Guillon, CEO of FV Hospital, VND5 million (US$209) for insulting officers on duty over an incident in Thao Dien Ward, Thu Duc City last December. Guillon, a French national, was accused of assaulting Vu Viet Hung, 57, who worked as a private security guard at a house in Thao Dien on December 2, 2022. The CEO said he tried to explained but the security guard did not understand English, so he insisted on entering the residence. The Frenchman admitted that might have overreacted thinking that the security guard was preventing him from saving a dying friend. The FV CEO stated he would meet and apologize directly to the security guard.
