9 factories, firms subject to relocation from downtown Hanoi

Hanoi Beer Alcohol and Beverage Joint Stock Corporation (Habeco), Thang Long Tobacco Company, and seven other firms will have to relocate their headquarters from downtown Hanoi, according to a decision made as part of a citywide relocation plan recently announced by the Hanoi People’s Committee. The headquarters of these companies were selected for relocation as they fail to meet standards for environmental protection and land use plans, according to the Hanoi Department of Natural Resources and Environment. The municipal administration tasked the Hanoi Department of Finance with presenting measures of handling the old buildings and land after the relocation. The Hanoi People’s Council on July 8 last year issued a resolution on a list of properties subject to relocation in the first phase.
