Vietnam team captain becomes female player with most Golden Ball awards

Huynh Nhu, skipper of the Vietnam women’s national football team, received her fifth Vietnam Golden Ball, becoming the most-awarded female player in the 27-year history of the award, on Saturday evening. The female striker, now playing for Portugal’s Lank FC, was earlier named the Vietnam Golden Ball winner in 2016, 2019, 2020, and 2021. The Golden Ball title was first given in 1995 to the nation’s best male player by Sai Gon Giai Phong (Liberated Saigon) newspaper.
