HCMC – The trial began this morning for suspects in the terrorist attacks in Daklak in June 2023, which resulted in nine casualties. Fifty-three suspects face charges related to alleged terrorism against the people’s administration, while 45 individuals, including six abroad, are prosecuted for suspected terrorism. The attacks claimed nine lives, including the chairman of Ea Tieu, the secretary of Ea Ktur, four police officers, and three residents, while injuring many others. Investigators reported that most of the suspects belong to ethnic minority groups in Daklak Province, enticed into joining reactionary forces controlled by suspects living abroad. Following the verdict, the Daklak People’s Committee will work with local and international authorities to bring the six internationally-wanted suspects to Vietnam for enforcement of their judgments.
