Toyota Vietnam announces recall of 26,000 cars due to loosened shock absorber nuts

Toyota Vietnam has informed the Vietnam Register of its plan to recall nearly 26,000 cars such as Veloz, Avanza, and Yaris Cross just a couple of weeks before the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday to tighten front shock absorber nuts. Design issues may result in insufficient tightening torque, leading to potential loosened shock absorber nuts and abnormal noises during use. In severe cases, the shock absorber nut could dislodge, compromising the vehicle’s stability. Despite the timing, the Vietnam Register has clarified that Toyota Vietnam’s recall is unrelated to Daihatsu. Depending on the inspection findings, the shock absorber nuts on the customer’s car will be tightened.
