HCMC – Vietnam Railways has proposed the Ministry of Transport approve a VND180-billion second-phase project to upgrade Song Than railway station in the southern province of Binh Duong. Sourced from the medium-term public investment capital, the funding will be allocated to construct customs, border patrol and security facilities, and renovate the An Binh cargo yard. Upon completion, Song Than railway station would be able to handle around 2.5 million tons of cargo annually. Over the past five years, cargo throughput at Song Than railway station has increased 10% a year. In 2022, about 1.6 million tons of cargo was transported through the station.
