Singaporean firm seeks acquisitions of 5 wind power projects in north-central Vietnam

In late November, Singapore-headquartered Sembcorp Solar Vietnam Company wrote to the provincial department, seeking permission to acquire a 100-percent stake valued at VND710 billion (US$29.2 million) in Dien Gio Huong Phung Company. The firm also sought the provincial department’s nod to spend VND1.269 trillion ($51.1 million) on the acquisition of Quang Tri Gelex Energy Company. Meanwhile, Quang Tri Gelex Energy Company owns three wind power plants, including Gelex 1, 2, and 3, which started their operations in October 2021. The provincial department issued 23 certificates of land use rights and ownership of houses and land-attached assets to the three projects spanning a total of 23 hectares of land. Earlier in mid-November, Quang Tri Province wrote to the Ministry of National Defense asking for feedback on proposals from two Chinese investors on buying a 50-percent stake in the Amaccao Quang Tri 1 wind power project.
