HCMC – Ongoing heavy rainfall is projected to persist, heightening the potential for floods and landslides in various parts of Vietnam and raising concerns about further damage and displacement. The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued warnings indicating that multiple areas in the country are at risk of flash floods and landslides due to continuous rainfall. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in northern mountainous provinces, particularly in Ha Giang and Lao Cai, which have been identified as high-risk zones for floods and landslides. Authorities have categorized the level of natural disaster risk stemming from floods, landslides, and land subsidence caused by heavy rain or flowing water as currently at level 1. Strategies encompass identifying causes, relocating residents from vulnerable areas, providing safe housing, and implementing technical measures to address soil erosion.
