PM Chinh advocates multilateral approach to global issues

The EAS comprises ASEAN and partner countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, India, Russia and the U.S. Leaders at the EAS engaged in extensive discussions on international and regional issues, including the East Sea, Myanmar, the Korean Peninsula, and the conflict in Ukraine. They emphasized the importance of regional peace, security, and stability for inclusive growth and sustainable development. Regarding the East Sea, ASEAN leaders reaffirmed the importance of maritime security, safety, and the freedom of navigation and overflight for all nations. According to PM Chinh, EAS member countries account for over 54% of the world’s population and 62% of global gross domestic product.
