Phu Quoc waterway transport services back to normal

HCMC – Waterway transport services between the mainland and Phu Quoc and other islands off Kien Giang Province resumed operations today, September 5, after a three-day suspension induced by bad weather. The resumption of tourist boat and ferry services has facilitated the return of more than 10,000 stranded visitors on Phu Quoc, Nam Du, and other islands off the coast of Kien Giang following the September 1-4 National Day holiday, according to local authorities. To ensure safety, tourist boats and ferries shuttling between Rach Gia City and nearby islands were temporarily halted, starting September 2. On September 4, the Phu Quoc-Ha Tien ferry route was reopened, alleviating some of the congestion caused by visitors who had been unable to depart. Phu Quoc International Airport reportedly served over 80 flights on the same day, according to an airport representative.
