An intense cold front is expected to make landfall in northern Vietnam, which has been experiencing a big chill for six consecutive days, on Saturday afternoon and persist through this weekend, according to the national weather center. North-central provinces like Thanh Hoa could also be hit by the bitterly cold weather, while frosts and sleet are forecast in mountainous areas, the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting warned. As the frigid weather may persist over the next few days, the death rate among livestock could rise further. Temperatures in some mountainous northern provinces including Lang Son, Cao Bang, Ha Giang ranged between 4 and 7 degrees Celsius.
