BUDAPEST - Hungary consistently regards Việt Nam as its most crucial partner in Southeast Asia, Hungarian President Katalin Novák stated at a January 19 meeting with Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, who is paying an official visit to the European country. Novák said she hoped Hungary-Việt Nam cooperation would continue to develop across all sectors based on mutual respect, and become a model for East-West collaboration. She described PM Chính’s visit as a significant milestone in the Hungary-Việt Nam comprehensive partnership, and acknowledged Việt Nam's role and position regionally and globally. Disclosing her intention to visit Việt Nam this year, the Hungarian President suggested that the two sides coordinate to organise the 10th Meeting of the Việt Nam-Hungary Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation during her visit. Currently, nearly 1,000 Vietnamese students are studying at Hungarian universities through scholarships granted by the Hungarian government.
