Hour-long rain leaves downtown roads underwater in Vietnam’s Thai Nguyen

Many inner-city roads faced acute waterlogging, causing hassles for motorists and motorbike drivers after a three-hour-long rain in Thai Nguyen City, located in the northern Vietnamese province of the same name, on Saturday morning. Do Thang, a native in this northern mountainous city, said it started to rain at 9:30 am and showed no signs of abating as of 12:00 pm the same day. “Flooding frequently hits city roads when it rains heavily," Thang said. The national weather center forecast that heavy rains packing thunderstorms and lightning will continue to hit Thai Nguyen and other northern provinces until next Thursday. A heavy rain on August 3, 2023 also left many roads in Thai Nguyen City inundated.
