Ho Chi Minh City fines 34 scrap collectors for various violations

Ho Chi Minh City has fined 34 scrap collecting facilities over VND216 million (US$9,110) for encroaching on roadbeds and sidewalks, littering, violating fire prevention and fighting regulations, and not applying for business licenses, according to the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment. The department released the figure after inspecting scrap collecting facilities citywide, with the facilities in District 3, District 7, District 8, District 10, and District 12 having yet to be taken into account. The metropolis is now home to over 1,100 scrap collecting facilities, mainly run by households. It will also suggest the city promptly remove obstacles in the management of scrap collecting facilities. The municipal police will enhance the coordination with Thu Duc City and districts to check these facilities’ compliance with fire prevention and fighting regulations.
