HCMC – Le Duy Minh, director of the HCMC Department of Finance, has been arrested on alleged charges of accepting bribes in connection with the Xuyen Viet Oil case, said Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Security (MPS). Minh was formerly director of the HCMC Tax Department. In September this year, the police pressed charges against Mai Thi Hong Hanh, born in 1979, and Nguyen Thi Nhu Phuong, born in 1992, who were director and deputy director at Xuyen Viet Oil, one of the 40 major petroleum trading firms in the nation. The results from the investigation in 2022 showed that Xuyen Viet Oil committed multiple violations in fuel business, including failure to meet the requirements for the distribution system of petroleum products. Xuyen Viet Oil’s purchase of petroleum products from its subsidiary violated Decree 83/2014 on petroleum business.
