German president calls on Vietnamese to work in Germany

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier shared his hope that more Vietnamese nationals will work in Germany as the European country faces a looming labor shortage at a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday. The German president also hoped that Vietnamese employees will be given more opportunities to work in Germany. At his meeting with the German president, PM Chinh proposed that his German guest help to create favorable conditions for over 200,000 Vietnamese to continue working and living in Germany. PM Chinh assessed the German president’s Vietnam visit as a new driver of the Vietnam - Germany strategic partnership, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. PM Chinh and German President Steinmeier also called on German firms to do business and expand their reach in Vietnam, especially in the realms of energy, railway, medical equipment, and infrastructure.
