Fresh cold front closes in on northern Vietnam

A new cold front is expected to cause low temperatures, scattered showers, and potential thunderstorms to the northern part of Vietnam starting Wednesday, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. The cold air mass started advancing toward the northern region on Tuesday morning, the center reported. Then, both the northern and north-central regions are expected to see temperatures drop to common ranges of 15-18 degrees Celsius. In the northern region of the East Vietnam Sea, including Vietnam's Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago, northeast winds will intensify, leading to waves of two to four meters high and rough seas. During the remainder of this month, the impact of cold air is expected to be less intense, and the northern region may experience fewer instances of extreme cold and harmful cold days compared to the average levels observed in previous years.
