Fishing vessel seized for transporting 50,000 liters of smuggled oil into southern Vietnam

Border guards in Kien Giang Province, southern Vietnam captured a fishing ship for allegedly carrying 50,000 liters of smuggled diesel oil while it was en route from Cambodian waters to Phu Quoc City on Sunday night. Tam failed to show documents on the origin of the diesel oil the ship was carrying. The border guards then towed the fishing vessel and the oil to a nearby port for further investigation. Earlier on Sunday, the Kien Giang Border Guard Command was informed by its subordinate agency in An Thoi Ward of this fishing vessel at around 8:00 pm. After seeking permission from the provincial Border Guard Command, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Phong, head of the An Thoi border station, led a patrol team to hunt for the vessel.
