Chinese investor eyes 500MW pumped storage hydropower project in central Vietnam

Vietnam's Power Generation Corporation 2, or EVNGENCO2, and its Chinese business partner China Southern Power Grid Company (CSGI) proposed developing a 500MW pumped storage hydropower plant in Quang Tri Province, central Vietnam during their recent working session with the provincial administration. Under their proposal, the plant would be built at an irrigation dam of the Quang Tri hydropower plant in Huong Hoa District over a course of some seven years and be put into operation after 2030. These companies said that the project would satisfy the growing need for electricity and highlighted the feasibility of the project in terms of economic benefits. Ha Sy Dong (R, 3rd), vice-chairman of the administration of Quang Tri Province, central Vietnam, hosts a reception for representatives of Power Generation Corporation 2 and China Southern Power Grid Company. The vice-chairman endorsed the proposal to build a pumped storage hydropower plant in the province and asked CSGI to team up with the relevant units to facilitate further steps.
