HCMC – Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong will head to Vietnam for an official visit and co-chair the fifth Vietnam-Australia Foreign Ministers Meeting this week. The visit takes place following the recent visits to Vietnam by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Trade and Tourism Minister Don Farell. During her visit to Hanoi, Wong will meet with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and other senior government officials to discuss a range of issues of mutual interest, including economic and security ties. For the first time as Foreign Minister, Wong will also visit HCMC, Vietnam’s economic powerhouse and the hub of Australia’s business relationship with Vietnam, and meet with Australians of Vietnamese heritage who are driving economic cooperation. The Australian minister highlighted that her visit was a clear statement of the Australian Government’s priorities.
