4 officials from culture department in northern Vietnam prosecuted for illegal gambling

Police in Dak Lak Province in Vietnam’s Central Highlands region have filed illegal gambling charges against four officials from the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Thai Binh Province. The four officials were caught red-handed gambling inside a hotel after watching an U-11 football match in Buon Ma Thuot City under Dak Lak Province on July 28. Among the group are Nguyen Manh Hung, 59, deputy director of the Thai Binh department; Dao Hoang Long, 59, deputy head of the sports management division; Nguyen Viet Minh, 52, director of the Thai Binh sports training center; and Dang The Dung, 54, deputy director of the center. All four were let out on bail and returned to Thai Binh Province in northern Vietnam. A representative of the Thai Binh Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the department was notified of the case by police officers in Dak Lak Province.
